THE TEACHER BEHIND THE LESSONS

Meet Jonathan

A church pianist with a heart for helping you serve.

I'm Jonathan Hudson—church pianist, assistant pastor, and the teacher behind Church Piano Tutorials. I help pianists turn simple chords into beautiful music for the local church.

A Bit About Me

I've been playing piano in church since I was sixteen. Through accompanying congregational singing, playing for specials, and working with other musicians, I've come to appreciate how much a pianist can do to support a service.

As an assistant pastor and church pianist, I care about more than how the music sounds. I want our playing to help people sing, support the message of a song, and honour the Lord.

That's the heart behind Church Pianist Academy. Through my YouTube lessons, books, and practice resources, I share practical ways to understand chords, build useful patterns, and play hymns with greater confidence.

My wife and I have five children, and our life is rooted in family and the local church. Whether you're just beginning or you've played for years, I hope the resources here will encourage you to keep growing and use what you learn in your own church.

HOW I TEACH

Simple Tools
Meaningful Music

You don't have to learn a complicated arrangement to make a hymn beautiful. Start with something you understand, then build on it.

01

Understand the Chords.

Learn how chords work so you can make musical choices with confidence, instead of simply memorizing notes.

02

Make Practical Practice.

Put patterns, rhythms, and inversions to work in actual hymns—the music you want to play on Sunday.

03

Serve the Song.

Listen to the singer and the congregation. Let your touch, timing, and accompaniment help them communicate the song.
